High Voltage Chargeman

Job summary

Chargeman BO / High Voltage Chargemen (11kV or 33kV) oversees the safe and continuous operation, maintenance, and repair of high-tension electrical systems (typically 11kV or 33kV) and equipment, including submission of report, ensuring compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Malaysian Energy Commission) regulations and other related laws and guidelines.

Key duties include performing preventive maintenance on switchgear and transformers, troubleshooting electrical faults, conducting inspections and calibrations. Supervising chargemen and technician on building and system maintenance.

Liaising with tenants on renovation, authorities and contractors for facility and equipment management and licensing.

Job responsibilities

  1. Accountable to execute BO Chargeman roles & responsibilities in strict accordance with the provisions outlined in the Electrical Act and Regulations set forth by Suruhanjaya Tenaga and other relevant authorities.
  2. Leading subordinate and overseeing maintenance and operational activities within the mall, ensuring a proactive approach to preventive maintenance. This includes vigilant supervision of contractors and service providers, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards and protocols for the seamless operation of mall facilities.
  3. Promptly address and resolve all tenant/ customer complaints, requests, and support needs by meticulously organizing and coordinating comprehensive support services and cross-functional activities.
  4. Conducting regular checks, thorough inspections, and test runs on generators, pumps, and all other M&E tools and equipment as proactive measures to optimize efficiency and mitigate the risk of breakdowns, thereby reducing repair costs.
  5. Maintain detailed records on condition of all equipment and provide comprehensive monthly reports to superiors. Implement a systematic monitoring system to proactively program preventive maintenance for all mechanical and electrical installations, ensuring optimal functionality and longevity.
  6. Facilitate effective communication and follow-up with vendors to ensure the maintenance and proper upkeep of plant machinery, equipment, and facilities. This encompasses management of spare parts, ensuring seamless coordination and control to uphold operational efficiency.
  7. Work collaborates with fit out team and tenants to ensure successful retail fit-out projects.
  8. Liaison with relevant government authorities (DOSH, ST, BOMBA, TNB and etc) on inspection and compliance with up-to-date safety rules & regulation.
  9. Work collaborates with the project team to ensure that both main contractors and subcontractors adhere to our designated timeline, facilitating timely rectification of all defects within the mall premises.
  10. Prepare management reports and propose expenses (Opex & Capex), including sourcing of vendors and relevant company procurement procedures.
  11. Performs all other ad-hoc and emergency support duties which align to your skill set that assigned by the Superior or Management as and when necessary.

Requirement

  1. Preferably with Diploma/Degree in Engineering or related fields & candidate must possesses at least Chargeman License High Tension (BO 11KV) registered to Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
  2. At least 5 to 8 years in a similar capacity with at least 2 years supervisory roles.
  3. Good leadership skills to steer the maintenance team towards organization‘s direction. 
  4. Able to work independently and willing to work outside normal hours. High degree of self-discipline with positive work attitude.
  5. Familar with Building Management System, Air Conditioning (Centralized Chilled Water System), Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Safety System, OSHA and all other building/mall management operations.
  6. Hands-on working experience in High/Medium voltage operation, supervising service/repair, and electrical components and equipment.
  7. Strong analytical and technical skills to troubleshoot and propose solutions.
  8. Familiar with Electricity Supply Act and Electricity Regulations.
  9. Familiar with MS Office will be an added advantange, People Management Skills, Interpersonal Communication and Rapport skills
  10. Ability to plan, coordinate and organize resources and M&E activities (total building maintenance)
  11. Handling utility readings and billings.
  12. Managing Maintenance Checklist and Preventive/Corrective actions.
