Job Summary

Ensures that company operations comply with regulatory requirements, food safety standards, and internal procedures. The role also supports audits, documentation, and continuous improvement.


Job Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with Halal, food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (JAKIM / JAIS, FSSC 22000, MeSTI, SIRIM, SEDEX, etc.).
  2. Maintain and implement the Halal Assurance System (HAS), including documentation and records.
  3. Coordinate and support internal and external audits, inspections, and certification renewals; follow up on findings and CAPA.
  4. Monitor production, procurement, and operational processes to ensure SOP and compliance adherence.
  5. Verify supplier and procurement compliance, including halal status and supporting documentation.
  6. Maintain up-to-date licenses, certifications, and statutory records for audit readiness.
  7. Support training and awareness programs on halal, food safety, and compliance requirements.
  8. Handle compliance-related enquiries and provide timely reports and updates to management.

Education & Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Halal Management, Shariah Studies, Islamic Studies, Quality Assurance, or any related discipline from a recognized institution.

 

Relevant Experience & Years of Service

  1. Must possess or be eligible to obtain certification as a Halal Executive recognized by Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) or the Majlis Islam Sarawak.
  2. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in compliance, halal assurance, food safety, or regulatory affairs is preferred.


Technical Skills & Professional Knowledge

  1. Practical knowledge of Malaysian halal standards (JAKIM, JAIS), and familiarity with halal certification procedures.
  2. Knowledge in internal halal audits, corrective actions, and maintaining Halal Assurance System (HAS).
  3. Candidates with equivalent hands-on experience in halal compliance, even without formal qualifications, may be considered subject to demonstrated competency.
  4. Knowledge of procurement compliance processes, including due diligence, purchase request vetting, SOP adherence, record verification, and application of continuous improvement frameworks such as PDCA.
  5. Familiarity with other company certifications (SIRIM, FSSC, MeSTI, SEDEX, Yum!) and working knowledge of relevant Malaysian regulatory requirements, including licensing, data protection, taxation, safety, and trade compliance.

 

Competencies

  1. Proficiency in English & Bahasa Malaysia
  2. Knowledge of Chinese language is an added advantage
  3. Good planning and time management skills
  4. Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload
  5. Handle requests, feedback, and queries quickly and professionally
  6. Friendly and good teamwork spirit
