Position: Technician, Quality Assurance (Lab)

Job Summary

Responsible for performing laboratory testing and documentation activities to support product quality and food safety compliance. This role includes conducting microbiological analysis, preparing and organizing test samples, managing laboratory records, and ensuring proper data entry based on reference numbers for traceability. The Lab Assistant is also responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment in accordance with the Food Safety Management System.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive and check samples to ensure appropriate conditions upon arrival.
  • Prepare and label samples accurately for analysis, following standard techniques and identification procedures.
  • Perform microbiological testing on finished products, raw materials, ingredients, water, surfaces, and air as per the sampling plan and timeline given.
  • Enter test results accurately into digital systems (Power Apps), ensuring completeness and timely submission.
  • Notify the Superior immediately for any non-conformance (NC) or failed results observed.
  • Understand the basic concept of laboratory reporting and data traceability.
  • Request and monitor laboratory consumables; assist in monthly stock checks and ensure proper storage.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment, containers, and materials according to SOPs and guidelines, ensuring all tools and facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and well-organized condition.
  • Prepare sterile containers for microbiological analysis and perform test setup in accordance with established procedures.
  • Document and update laboratory procedures as required, under the guidance and supervision of the QA team.
  • Manage laboratory documentation and compile records according to reference numbers to ensure accurate record-keeping and traceability.
  • Submit daily updates to the QA Executive/QA Manager/Head of Department and perform other tasks as instructed by the superior.

Educations & Qualification.

  • Diploma on Food Technology/Chemistry
  • SPM/STPM or any other equivalent academic certification

Relevant & Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in related field

Technical Skill & Professional Knowledge

  • Understanding basic HACCP & GMP fundamentals.
  • Basic Microsoft office such as words and excel.

Competencies

  • Laboratorial methodologies (especially those related with ISO and legal guidelines), knowledge of production processes.
