Executive, Environment, Health & Safety

A corporate-level role responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Group’s Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) framework. The incumbent is expected to possess strong knowledge of regulatory requirements under the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and Department of Environment (DOE), and to act as a key resource in ensuring Group-wide compliance.
 
The role will assist the Specialist, EHS and, where required, the Senior Manager, EHS in planning and executing the FFM Group’s EHS strategies, setting performance targets, and driving EHS excellence across 15 subsidiaries operating at 44 locations.
 
Key responsibilities include continuously reviewing and enhancing the Group’s EHS Management Systems, as well as developing, implementing, and updating policies and procedures in line with local regulatory requirements, relevant government authorities, and Wilmar Group EHS standards.
 
The incumbent will work closely with sites’ EHS personnel across all business units to align EHS practices, strengthen compliance, and ensure effective execution of EHS initiatives. The role also plays a critical part in leading and supporting the Group’s efforts in achieving ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) certifications.
 
Responsibilities
 
A. Group-Level Responsibilities
Assist the Specialist, EHS and Senior Manager, EHS in the following:
    1. EHS Strategy, Planning & Performance Management
    • Support the development of short- and long-term Group EHS goals, including formulation of action plans and performance indicators to monitor progress against targets.
    • Assist in monitoring, analysing, and reporting Group EHS performance, ensuring timely submission of data, incident reports, and investigation outcomes through designated systems (e.g. Enablon).
    1. EHS Compliance & Risk Management
Work closely with sites’ EHS personnel and site management across all entities to:
    • Promote and ensure a safe and healthy workplace and environment across the Group.
    • Monitor compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal EHS requirements.
    • Support timely incident reporting, investigation, corrective actions implementation and closure.
    1. Environmental Management
Support operational sites on:
    • Establish policies, standards and procedures
    • Monitor legislation and provide compliance guidance
    • Consolidate and report environmental data
    • Provide specialist environmental advice
    1. EHS Management Systems & ISO Certification
    • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Group EHS Management Systems.
    • Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with:
    • DOSH / DOE and other regulatory requirements
    • Wilmar Group EHS Standards
    • Support the Group in achieving ISO 14001 (EMS) and ISO 45001 (OHSMS) certifications
    1. Audit & Assurance
    • Plan, coordinate, and support internal EHS audits across all sites.
    • Track and ensure timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions, strengthening overall compliance and governance.
    1. Training, Competency & Awareness
Coordinate:
    • Group-wide EHS training programmes
    • LMS-based training for EHS personnel
    • EHS briefings for employees, contractors, and visitors
    • Support initiatives to strengthen EHS awareness and safety culture across the Group.
    1. EHS Systems, Reporting & Communication
Administer and maintain:
    • EHS reporting systems and dashboards
    • EHS data management and reporting processes
    • Support preparation of management reports, performance dashboards, and analysis
    • Coordinate EHS communications, campaigns, and promotion activities
 
B. Sungai Buloh Office Responsibilities
In addition to Group-level responsibilities, perform the following at Sungai Buloh office:
    1. Site-Level EHS Implementation
    • Coordinate and support:
    • Implement and maintain the Company's EHS policies, procedures, and management systems at the site.
    • Monitor compliance with applicable EHS legal requirements, company standards, and permit conditions.
    • Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments, and monitor corrective actions.
    • Coordinate incident reporting, investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Coordinate EHS programmes, including training, emergency preparedness, contractor safety, Permit to Work (PTW), occupational health, and environmental management.
    • Maintain EHS records, statutory documentation, and prepare periodic EHS reports.
    1. Regulatory Liaison & Compliance
    • Liaise with relevant authorities, including but not limited to DOSH, DOE, BOMBA and other relevant Local Authorities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and timely submission of all required reports and documentation.
 
C. Crisis Management & Business Continuity
Support the implementation of Group Crisis Management and Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
  • Assist in:
  • Crisis response planning based on identified risks
  • Crisis management training and BCP drills/testing
 
D. General Responsibilities
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management from time to time.
 
 
Qualification, Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environment, Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification.
Certification or completion of the Safety and Health Officer (SHO) course recognised by DOSH will be an added advantage.
Minimum 1–2 years of working experience in manufacturing or a similar industry is preferred.
Exposure to EHS management systems, regulatory compliance, or site-level EHS practices will be an added advantage.
Good working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 and Environmental Quality Act (EQA) 1974
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general digital tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate risks and recommend practical solutions.
Basic understanding of EHS reporting and data management systems (e.g. Enablon) is an added advantage.
Familiarity with EHS Management Systems (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) will be an added advantage.
